Tasty offerings at this Italian family-owned, operated Fountain Inn eatery
I live in Simpsonville, South Carolina, however, just a few minutes away is Fountain Inn. A great place to enjoy a short culinary adventure on a weekend.
A few weekends ago, my wife and I did just that. We made a usual stop at Bobby's BBQ, which has become the BBQ place to be at these days. But, we were craving something sweet.
We found that sweet place when we drove farther into the town, their main street.
The place is Gio's Pastry Shop, or Pasticceria di Gio. It's located at 218 South Main Street, Unit A. It's an Italian family eatery serving up a blend of homemade, fresh pastries and imported treats, like their Gluten-free offerings.
The Bomboloni (Italian doughnuts) are to die for. So flavorful. We loved the cannoli offerings, too. The variety of cookies are amazing. If you want something savory, the croissants are the hands-down go-to yum yum! The crème cheese are oh-so-good!
Be prepared for a conversation. These friendly people love to talk about their offerings and want you to have a pleasurable experience while visiting. And, I encourage you to ask questions about their selections. You might not be familiar with the name of the serving, but the ingredients will make sense.
Make plans to stop in sometime. Your taste buds will thank you.
