Burdette Central officially welcomes 1885 Taproom, CocoBon Chocolatier

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, Burdette Central was the place to be! Lots of people enjoying a beautiful, sunny day to welcome new businesses into the complex.

Two of them were 1885 Taproom and CocoBon Chocolatier.

The Simpsonville Area Chamber of Commerce held an official ribbon cutting and family-day event to usher the businesses in.

Owners Jamie Gervasi - left - (1885 Taproom) and Dave Saidat - right - (CocoBon Chocolatier) were ecstatic to be part of the occasion.

Burdette Central incorporates the historic Burdette Building, which was close to being demolished to make way for a chain drug store. But, others said no, that's not happening.

Begun in 1899, Burdette Hardware was a family business. The store was both a retail and a community gathering place that welcomed everyone in good times and bad. At certain points it housed a shirt factory as well as a hardware store, and B.W. Burdette, the founder, paid close attention to the business, his family and the community. As one of the most important businesses of its time, the building today holds landmark status. The new owners pledge to honor its history and its importance.

And, if you've been recently, you'll see that history. In the walls, the ceilings. Even the tables you eat at inside capture that history, to live on for years to come.

Diane Kirven and Mack Burdette's grandfather started the store

Soon, Farm Fresh Fast will be opening their SVL spot here, their second location in Greenville, South Carolina. Owner Jonathan Willis says he loves the area and wants to be part of giving folks something they'll love: farm-to-table food with fresh ingredients.

If you're a business looking to be part of this great venture, contact Burdette Central for details. Be part of history while making history at the same time.
