Greenville, S.C. [April 20, 2022] – Plans for euphoria2022 presented by Lexus include 45+ events over the course of four days, ranging from classrooms, lunch and learns, and wine seminars to musical performances, signature events, and guest chef dinners. Greenville’s award-winning food, wine, and music festival is set to take place September 15-18, 2022.
“We have big plans for 2022,” says euphoria Executive Director Morgan Allen. “We were fortunate to be able to host a scaled-back version of euphoria over the past two years, but this is the first time we’ve had our full schedule of events since 2019, so we are going all out.
euphoria will kick off its 17th anniversary weekend with A Tyler Florence Homecoming in partnership with VisitGreenvilleSC at Soby’s New South Cuisine on Thursday, September 15. For the first time ever, Food Network star and James Beard-nominated Chef Tyler Florence will host a wine dinner in his hometown during euphoria.
Area restaurants and event venues will host more than a dozen guest chef dinners over the course of four days, the most ever in one euphoria weekend. Jianna, Oak Hill Café, Southern Culture, Stella’s Southern Brasserie, Topsoil Kitchen & Market, and Woodside Bistro are just a few of the places that will host seated, multi-course dinners with visiting chefs.
A total of six Michelin-starred chefs will collaborate for three different dinners. On Thursday, Danny Lledó, the most awarded paella chef in America, will collaborate with Chef Shawn Kelly at Fork & Plough for By the Starlight: A Michelin-starred Dinner. Daniel Boulud, named “Best Restaurateur in the World” in 2021, will join forces with Emma Bengtssen, the first female Swedish chef to win two stars and the second female chef based in the United States to do so, for The Michelin Experience at Avenue on Friday. Seeing Stars: A Michelin-starred Dinner returns to Soby’s New South Cuisine on Saturday, featuring Ryan Ratino of Bresca and Jônt in DC, Suyoung Park of Jungsik in New York City, and Minh Phan of Phenakite in Los Angeles.
“We are really proud of this year’s Michelin-starred chef line-up,” says Allen. “Three of the six chefs are female, which is the most we’ve ever had at euphoria at one time, and the diversity of cuisine they bring to the festival is impressive.”
euphoria’s emphasis on education is evident in the 20+ classrooms, lunch & learns, and wine seminars on the schedule. Topics range from chocolate, acai bowls, pickling, and knife skills to gin, tequila, beer, sparkling wines, and Japanese liquors. Feast by the Field, euphoria’s signature tasting event that’s expanded to two days, and Aged to Perfection, the signature kick-off event that made its debut in 2021, will both return in September, along with Party in the Park, which is moving to Fluor Field. Two other popular events that have been on hiatus since 2019 will also be making a comeback, including Songwriter’s Recipe and Healthy Lunchtime Throwdown, a friendly cooking competition where Greenville County Schools students cook on the culinary stage with Michelin-starred chefs. Sunday Supper, the laid-back Southern meal that serves as euphoria’s grand finale, will once again feature South Carolina Chef Ambassadors crafting dishes with locally-grown ingredients.
euphoria’s mission is to showcase and support Greenville’s thriving culinary and music arts scene while making a strong, positive impact on the community and raising money for other nonprofit organizations. In 2022, four local charities are receiving more than $45,000 in grants for projects that help children, provide education through music or performing arts, and work to eliminate hunger, including:
A Child's Haven: Kindermusik to introduce new concepts to at-risk children, giving them social-emotional stability, and language and literacy benefits that help them better understand the world around them; Greenville Tech Foundation: Enhancing Hands-on Culinary Education at CHI to help students learn valuable life skills, healthy eating habits, and gain job skills through hands-on culinary training; Mill Community Ministries: Fresh Out of the Box with FoodShare to provide access to affordable, fresh produce and healthy, budget-friendly recipes for the whole family; Meyer Center for Special Children: Smart Snackers to mitigate the cost of providing daily snacks for students, so more funding can go directly to the life-changing therapies and special education services the Meyer Center provides.
This is the largest dollar amount euphoria has ever given in one year before, due largely to the success of the 2021 festival and the generous members of the Producer’s Circle, which was created for people who want to attend the festival as a VIP and also provide additional financial support for euphoria’s nonprofit mission. The grants for Mill Community Ministries and Meyer Center for Special Children were made possible by the generosity of the Producer’s Circle.
Since euphoria was founded in 2006, the festival has funded projects for more than 40 local charities and made a significant impact on Greenville’s hospitality & tourism industries, economic development, and quality of life. euphoria is the proud recipient of the Governor’s Cup Award, the highest honor in the tourism industry for the state of South Carolina. Executive Director Morgan Allen was also named one of USA Today’s Women of the Year, a list that honors strong and resilient women across the country who are champions of change. Allen was the honoree for South Carolina, recognizing her work on Connect for Good GVL, an initiative that provided 130,000+ meals to the Greenville community during the pandemic.
