Have you tried it? Black Rooster

There's a restaurant in West Columbia, South Carolina, serving up exquisite dishes with a "Frenchish" twist. And, if you listening to the people coming out of the eatery, you'd need a translator because it's turning people into culinary travelers.

That eatery is Black Rooster.

Brought to you by restauranteur Kristian Niemi, Black Rooster is paying homage to cuisines around the world that were influenced by the French over the centuries.

Cafe de Paris Salad: A bright, herb-forward salad that can be made with or without protein. We chose these beautiful gulf prawns, marinated in a rich tomato based marinade & chargrilled. Finished with champagne vinaigrette, tomato vinegar & tarragon aioli & fresh breadcrumbs.

Let's learn more about this awesome restaurant.

Black Rooster is a "Frenchish" restaurant with a rooftop bar from chef/restaurateur, Kristian Niemi (aka me...the guy behind places like Bourbon, Rosso Trattoria, Gervais & Vine, Mr. Friendly's). By "Frenchish", I mean we adhere to not only the French classics and French technique in our approach to our cuisine, but we also add a local sensibility based on the farmers and ranchers we work with for our products. We also like to pay homage to cuisines around the world that were influenced by the French over the centuries. So, it is not unusual to find dishes from Morocco, Senegal, Vietnam, or even Mexico on our menu. We love the freedom to explore the same cultures the French have and bring those flavors back just as they did.

And their menu backs this up. They have amazing dishes to offer, like Alsatian Pork Schnitzel - Crispy Carolina Heritage Farms Pork Loin, Caramelized Onions, Mustard & Gruyere Mornay, Bacon, Farm-Fresh Egg, Alsatian Potato Salad, Creamed Bradford Collards - and Escargots Forestiere - Wild Mushroom and Leek Butter, Madiera, Garlic and Mushroom Shoyu Aioli, Crostini.

Duck Cheesesteak Ramen: Confit Duck Leg, Peppers + Onions + Mushrooms & Gruyere Cheese atop 2 Steam Buns. Served with Smoked Chicken Broth, Housemade Kimchi, Scallions, Soy Pickled Mushrooms & a Soft-Boiled Egg.

Black Rooster is located at 201 Meeting in West Columbia, S.C. They also have a rooftop bar. They accept walk-ins and reservations. Plan accordingly because weekend tend to be their busiest time. You can also follow them on Instagram.
