Have you tried it? Mike's Cheesesteaks & Roast Pork

There's a food stand located in Gather GVL that's two years old, but isn't exhibiting terrible behavior. No, this eatery is so mature for its age, it knows how to stay close to the roots of the product it serves. And trust me, the training wheels have been off for a while.

It's Mike's Cheesesteaks & Roast Pork and it's freaking amazing!

Andrew Fallis and his wife, Michelle, have an extensive culinary background. He has worked for Charleston's Indigo Road hospitality group. Michelle started working at Stella's Southern Brasserie when they made the move to Greenville.

Their goal was to branch out and bring their own concept to life.

So, in February 2020, Andrew brought his childhood Philadelphia upbringing - including the the culinary tastes he enjoyed - to Gather GVL. What did that mean? Well, if you can tell by the photos... authentic cheesesteaks and roast pork sandwiches, along with Philly staples Tastykakes, cannolis, and Italian ice.

Let's learn more about this from their website.

It was a simple idea to serve simple sandwiches. Growing up in Philadelphia, Andrew and his dad Mike, headed to South Street for their favorite steaks at Jim’s, before heading to a Flyers or Phillies game. Andrew, a graduate of Johnson & Wales, with 20 plus years dedicated to the Food & Beverage industry, always had dreams of opening his own joint one day. Mike’s is that joint, bringing the best of Philly style sandwiches to you. Please enjoy.

Andrew wanted to be as traditional as possible. That even means using the right bread for the sandwich. He "imports" it from New Jersey's Liscio's Bakery.

I can tell you these cheesesteaks are as authentic as you can get without heading to Philly yourself and standing in line for one at Geno's. And the roast pork here is so succulent.

If you haven't been here yet, you need to go. Quick. This is a legit #gotoyournomnomplace!
