Viva Chicken delivers flavorful Peruvian menu, leads with 'hottest, freshest chicken'

If you've been on the search for top-quality Peruvian flavor in Greenville, South Carolina, there's a Charlotte-based restaurant that's got the culinary fix!

Viva Chicken packs a flavorful punch with recipes that bring Peru-inspired dishes to the masses. And let me tell you, the dishes we had were all phenomenal!

Since opening in 2013, cofounders Chef Bruno Macchiavello and Randy Garcia have taken their passion and expanded into South Carolina.

We dined in at the location on 1139 Woodruff Rd. There's another located on 3624 Pelham Rd.

Let's talk about that chicken, friends.

1/2 Chicken, served with Yuca and Quinoa

The 1/2 Chicken with Yuca and Quinoa was superb. Great flavors pound your taste buds with the seasoning on the chicken. Plus, the meat is moist and cooked perfectly. The quinoa was very complimenting as were the yuca.

The Great (Sandwich), served with pulled rotisserie chicken, lettuce, tomato, red onion and rocoto mayo

The Great (Sandwich) - see above in all its glory - was a treat this mouth has been waiting for - like, for years. Such great flavors. The chicken was, again, cooked perfectly. I added the Aji Amarillo Sauce (Mild) to one portion and the Huacatay Sauce (Medium) to another.

Both signature sauces deliver a great taste, just depends on how much heat you prefer. They are made in-house daily.

Sopa de Pollo - pulled rotisserie chicken, cilantro rice, homemade chicken broth, red peppers, green onions, red onions and cilantro

The Sopa de Pollo was a legit hit with my mouth. It kept screaming for more. The flavors hit your taste buds as soon as you put the spoon to your tongue. This dish is what Peru food, and Viva Chicken, is all about - fresh ingredients and outstanding flavors that produce healthy dishes filled with nutrients, leaving you feeling whole.

And in this case, whole means full. But, you don't have to eat a lot to get full. The soup is plenty enough to fill you up for lunch or dinner.

Tacu Bowl, served with jasmine or cilantro rice, canary beans, salsa criolla (lime marinated tomato and onion), avocado and green onions

We also had the Tacu Bowl, with our choice of cilantro rice and added pulled chicken. Again, you can get full with just ordering this as the portion is just right to where you'll not feel bloated. Drizzle the Huacatay sauce (Medium) on this for a superb flavor kick!

Make plans to visit either location in Greenville - or Summerville, S.C. if your are close to Mount Pleasant and Charleston. You'll be glad you did!
